We are excited to launch our Empower campaign, which is intended to fundraise $10,000 over the month of June 2020.
A little bit of context on Rural Australia
Our night school will assist school students in Moree who are disadvantaged by the current school system. Many young people are disadvantaged by unstable home life, low socioeconomic status, health issues and poor nutrition. Young people often spend nights away from their homes, resulting in decreased productivity during the day.
But there’s a problem
As we are in the early stages of development, we are finding it difficult to secure the necessary funding for our Centre to cover logistical and resourcing essentials that have been exacerbated by COVID-19.
Nhubaala Yugal Education Centre enables and empowers disadvantaged young people to break out of the cycle of poverty.
The expected long-term impact of the program is that disadvantaged youth in Moree who are disengaged from the school system and are potentially influenced by alcohol, drugs and crime, find employment and break the cycle of poverty that generations have been plagued by. The impact of the program does not stop at students’ completion of Year 10, but extends to developing perceptions of self, and enables participation in tertiary education and attainment of employment. By fostering meaningful connections and utilising the strength of community, the NYEC increases students’ engagement in their education, guiding young people into positive pathways and empowering them to break out of the poverty cycle.
Given the need to avoid long-distance travel, we are seeking to purchase a mobile classroom so that our students can complete their education courses close to home. When children become disconnected from school for long periods of time, it could mean they never return again, thus we are focused on ensuring that COVID-19, long-distance travel or any other future events will not disturb their opportunity for schooling.
Join us and Empower Rural Education
We are aiming to raise at least $10,000 AUD which will go towards a mobile classroom, so children can stay connected to their education regardless of their location or circumstances.
Please donate whatever you can to help us give rural youth the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
